Our Story

Out of the vision of one set of parents and their desire to create a future for their daughter who has special needs, Projectid was formed. Projectid is a non-profit organization with the goal to provide opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to enjoy the same pleasures, responsibilities, and growth opportunities as every young adult within a context that met the individual’s unique needs.

Together with a group of coaches and volunteers already passionate about this population through Special Olympic sports, the couple formed Projectid in August 2013. By September of 2013 the Board of Directors was formed. The Board of Directors consists of individuals with diverse skills and backgrounds and a shared passion for filling the gaps in the “system” that currently serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Board of Directors developed a six phase organizational development plan and the first few phases have been launched, but there is much more in the works!
